Ace of Cups
컵 에이스

Feeling and what runs between people.

Upright

an opening · new feeling · filling up

Reversed

blocked · closed off · dry

A hand reaches out of a cloud holding a single cup. Five streams spill over its rim into a pond below, where water lilies float. Above, a dove descends toward the cup with a small wafer in its beak.

The Ace of Cups is the start of a feeling. Something has just begun to come in. Someone you met recently keeps crossing your mind, or a thing that had gone flat starts to be fun again, or you notice that you accepted a compliment without immediately waving it away. This card tends to be about people more than work, and about mood more than plans.

Reversed, the cup is stopped up, and there are two ways that happens. Either you closed it on purpose because you did not want to get hurt, or you are so worn out that it simply ran dry. The first needs a bit of nerve; the second needs time to refill. Mixing them up leads to the wrong fix — telling an exhausted person to open up gets you nowhere.

The question it asks is simple. When feeling comes your way at the moment, are you taking it in, or letting it run past?

The usual misreading is 'a romance is starting.' That is one possibility among several. The Ace talks about what is changing in you before it talks about anyone else. If there is no new person but you suddenly want to pick up the instrument you abandoned years ago, that is this card too.

Next to the Two of Cups, the opening finds an actual person. Beside the Star it reads less like a beginning and more like recovery — water collecting again in a cup that had been dry for a long while.
