Body, money, work. Slow and solid.

Upright

waiting · tending · taking stock

Reversed

impatience · fear of waste · walking off

A young farmer leans on his hoe and looks down at a bush with seven pentacles growing on it like fruit. This is not a working scene but a pause in the middle of one. What was planted is growing, it is not time to pick it yet, and in that gap he is taking stock.

It usually appears when there is a stretch of time between effort and result. Six months into a savings plan, a channel you post to every week that still is not growing, a qualification you keep studying for while the scores stay flat. The card says the result is not missing, just still ripening — and that this is a good moment to check.

Reversed, it goes two ways. One is impatience, like digging up the soil every morning to see whether anything has sprouted; checking so often is what wears you out. The other is walking away because it all feels wasted, often before you have looked at what actually grew.

The question is whether you can write down what has built up so far, in numbers or as a list. Once it is on paper, whether to keep going or change course is far clearer than it is by feel.

Reading it as 'just wait' is half right. The farmer is not just waiting, he is looking. The waiting in this card is not hands off; it is watching closely and deciding the next move.

With the Eight of Pentacles the weight falls on keep refining. Next to the Eight of Cups it reads as wondering whether to walk away from what you have put in.
