About this weekend

Art museum

A museum is a place where you set your own walking pace. You can stand in front of one painting for a long time or skip a whole room. Large museums aren't built to be seen in a day, so picking one or two exhibitions is usually less tiring. Temporary shows close on a fixed date, and seeing the same work again may mean travelling to another city.

If you picked this

The highest aesthetic reading in the pack. You want to spend the weekend in front of beautiful things. Nature is low — what people made moves you more than landscape does.

Adventure is on the low side too. Rather than throwing yourself at something new, you'd rather look slowly at something someone else worked hard on. That isn't passive: being able to stand in front of one painting for a long time is a fairly rare kind of focus.

Go with someone who walks at your speed. If one of you spends thirty minutes per room and the other is at the exit in ten, both of you leave a little short-changed. Agreeing to split up and meet at the exit works too. In a bracket the museum splits votes with the other aesthetic squares, and meeting the jazz bar or the palace makes for a close fight.

The nearest square is the jazz bar, then the palace walk — all three choose atmosphere inside a city. The furthest is hiking. Same Sunday morning: one puts on hiking boots, the other comfortable flats.
