A figure stands at the cliff edge looking up, not down. Everything they own is in a bundle on a stick, and a small dog barks at their heels. This card is not about ignorance. It is about the state before the arithmetic — before you have learned how the world usually goes, which is exactly why you can step where others cannot.
The Fool usually marks a first day. A new job, a thing you have never tried, a grip you finally loosened. What matters is that it promises nothing. It does not say this will work out. It says nothing has been decided yet, and whether that emptiness is good news depends on what you were hoping to hear.
Reversed, it splits two ways. Sometimes you jumped where you should not have — the dog was the warning and you did not hear it. Sometimes the opposite: you are still standing at the edge months later. If you have been saying you are not ready for a while now, that is not preparation, that is delay. You know which one you are.
The useful question is this. Are you hesitating because you lack information, or because you are afraid of what you would lose? If it is the first, go find out. If it is the second, finding out will not help.
The temperature shifts a lot depending on what sits beside it. With the Magician it says the preparation is done; with the Tower it says the foot went over the edge. The Fool is hardest to read alone, so the neighbouring card comes first.
