You open the map and drive to wherever the weather is good. A tent is in the boot and a booking isn't required. The people who come are people who enjoy it this way, so it works.

Nature is unpredictable anyway, so not planning feels like the honest response. Rain means somewhere else; a blocked road means camp here.

The risk is thin preparation. Outdoors, improvisation can become danger — sunset time, water, sudden temperature drops don't respond to mood. Cover the minimum and this becomes the most fun way to travel.
