Surfing 🏄

About this weekend
SurfingSurfing is generally traced to Hawaii and wider Polynesia, and it became an Olympic sport for the first time at Tokyo 2020. In Korea, Yangyang and Songjeong in Busan are the best-known surf beaches. Most first days are spent on the sand, lying on a board and practising the pop-up. You spend far longer waiting for waves than riding them.
If you picked this
The highest adventure reading in the pack. People land here wanting to try one thing they've never done. Nature is high too — but you're not going to look at the sea, you're going in.
Aesthetic sits close to the middle. You like the beach atmosphere, but that isn't the reason. You're buying the cycle of falling off and climbing back on, and the few seconds when you finally stand up properly. You have patience for the process, not just the result.
You go well with someone who can wait. Surfing is mostly floating and waiting for a wave, so a companion who needs to be constantly doing something will wear you both out. Surfing is the kind of square that draws aspirational votes — people who've never tried it are easily tempted.
The nearest square is skiing, then camping; water or snow aside, skiing and surfing share nearly the same voters. The furthest is the book café. Few pairs paint the same weekend so differently.
